Financier (French tea cake)

Financier is the forgotten cousin of the madeleine in North America. But this does not make it less delicious! In France it is just as famous as madeleines! Its nut and brown butter aroma make it irresistible and perfect with tea or coffee.

During this class, you will be learning how to make these tea cakes in approximately 1 hour. This is a beginner class which means that even if you never baked before you are also welcome to join. It is a no-pressure class where we do not rush, the goal is to have fun while learning 🙂

I will give as many details as possible for each step to make sure everyone can follow and makes great financiers by the end of the class!

The class will be held online via Zoom with a limited group of students to make sure I can efficiently guide you through all the steps of the pastry. You can ask questions during the class.  Prior to the course, you will receive the full recipe of this dessert along with a list of ingredients and tools required. The class will be recorded, and a recording of the Zoom session will be available if you want to watch it again or in case you missed the class for some reason.

Tools required:

  • scale, the cheapest you can find, no need for a fancy one
  • A sieve (optional)
  • A muffin pan, or if you feel fancy, you can buy a financier mold here but it is totally optional.
  • whisk
  • 1 saucepan
  • 2 mixing bowls

All prices are in CAD.

You can cancel and get full refund up to 48h before the class.
